DanceREACH Programs

 Lecture Demonstrations
Offering a “behind the scenes” look at one of Pascal Rioult’s modern dance works, a narrator discusses how Pascal Rioult creates a dance, uses music, and transforms an idea into choreography, while company dancers demonstrate. Students from the audience are invited on stage to the join the company dancer and learn a sequence of movement from the modern dance work. Company dancers then give a full performance of the modern dance work which is followed by a Q&A session with the dancers.

Lecture Demonstrations are one hour long, assembly format.
Appropriate for multiple grade levels and school-wide audiences.

 Dance Workshops

Teaching artists lead age-appropriate modern dance workshops to engage students’ imagination and encourage creative expression through movement. Workshops are tailored to meet curriculum needs and interest, allowing for one-on-one time where students can learn and ask questions. Workshops can also be used to support Lecture Demonstrations as either pre and/or post activity to enhance the student’s experience.
Dance Workshops range from 1-2 hours in length.
The number of students and their grade level(s)determine the length and number of Teaching Artists.
Workshops can be provided in a series or as a onetime experience.

 In-School Dance Residencies

A classroom residency is a comprehensive dance experience including a Lecture Demonstration, a series of Dance Workshops, and a culminating performance. RIOULT Teaching Artists lead a series of 8 to 15 curriculum-based classes developed with the classroom teacher*. Students create original movement phrases and collaboratively use them to craft a dance. The residency concludes with a culminating performance where students perform their dance work for the school, parents, and community. Based on availability, RIOULT Dance NY will also perform at the culminating performance.
*All residencies include Professional Development Workshops with RIOULT Teaching Artists and classroom teachers.

In-School Dance Residencies typically include 8-15 visits, teaching 3-5 classes per visit (generally covering all classes of a particular grade), over a 3-8 week period. One week to full year residency options are also available.
