RIOULT's Arts Education Program
Since 1997, RIOULT Dance NY has implemented a flexible, in-school arts education initiative entitled DanceREACH throughout the New York metropolitan area, and internationally while touring. DanceREACH introduces the art of modern dance to elementary, middle, and high school students through an assortment of programs. Built around the idea that dance is something everyone can do, interactive DanceREACH programs teach basic dance terminology, ballet and modern technique, and choreography based on company repertory. Additionally, students gain insight into the artistic process from creation to rehearsal and finally live performance by working individually and collaboratively to develop their own dances.
RIOULT Dance NY believes that through dance, students develop inventive minds, strong bodies, and an understanding of self expression – all of which inspire student achievement in the classroom. Using The New York City Department of Education’s Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Dance as a foundation, DanceREACH programs can be catered for various curricula and student age groups. RIOULT repertory explores history, contemporary culture, literature, art, and universal themes, and is used as a point of departure for DanceREACH lesson plans.
“Our dedication to bringing our work and our passion to young people is reinforced with each new encounter. It not only enlightens the students, but revitalizes our own delight in dance.”
– Pascal Rioult, Artistic Director
