SPOTLIGHT on Lina Park

Lina Park is a relentless champion of RIOULT Dance NY’s Master Series for Young Dancers and Summer Camp. We first met Lina in the summer of 2012 when her daughter, Diana, auditioned to perform in Pascal Rioult’s Small Steps, Tiny Revolutions with other local young dancers. This was an exciting time for Diana because not only was she able to perform with RIOULT’s professional dancers, she had her picture in The New York Times! The following summer Diana returned to participate in the company’s first ever Summer Camp, calling it an “awesome experience.”

Lina Park and Diana

Lina Park and Diana

Dance has always been a part of the 11-year-old’s life, beginning with classes at Dance Workshop and leading her to audition and train at Ballet Tech in Manhattan. To help Dianna continue her dance education and to be more involved with her two daughters (Diana has a sister named Dalia!), Lina decided to leave her full-time job and give up her pension. Lina’s dedication continued even after Hurricane Sandy destroyed her and her husband’s martial arts school in Long Beach and she returned to work part-time.

On RIOULT’s 2013 Summer Camp Lina comments, “It was a great way to end the summer! Although Diana’s first love is ballet, she enjoys being able to dance freely and express her feelings in a new way through modern dance.”

Today, Diana continues her training at Ballet Tech and through RIOULT’s workshops (such as the Master Series for Young Dancers) and Summer Camps. “Diana’s goal in life is to dance professionally,” Lina says. “She truly amazes me with the passion she has for her craft and her persistence and dedication. She is a remarkable young lady and I am very proud to be her mom.”

As RIOULT’s dance programs for children have grown since 2012, Lina Park has remained one of our top program advocates. From all of us here at RIOULT Dance NY, thank you Lina for your continued support and the chance to share the art of dance with your talented daughter!

Welcome Apprentice Catherine Cooch!

.
This past summer Ms. Cooch attended RIOULT Dance NY’s Summer Intensive 2013, soon after, the Company was auditioning for a female apprentice.
.
After a grueling audition process alongside 216 dancers, Catie became our new apprentice! We are thrilled to have her on our team!  Read her bio here.
.
I feel so fortunate that I was selected to be an apprentice at RIOULT Dance NY.  The Summer Intensive I took with the Company prepared me for the audition process and gave me a clear advantage over other dancers unfamiliar with Pascal Rioult’s choreography and process. The RIOULT Summer Intensive is an outstanding way to help prepare any dancer for a professional dance career.
